ROBINIA VISCOSA Michx. ex Vent. as an ornamental plant with expected bactericidal properties

Abstract

Robinia viscosa Michx. ex Vent., an ornamental species native to North America, has been introduced into urban landscapes in Europe, including Chernihiv, Ukraine. Despite its decorative value and prolonged flowering period, its pharmacological potential remains understudied compared to R. pseudoacacia. Using analytical forecasting and literature comparison, it is assumed that the flowers of R. viscosa, which contain essential oils, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, tannins, and polysaccharides, may demonstrate bactericidal and antioxidant properties similar to those of R. pseudoacacia. Further laboratory studies of inflorescences collected in Chernihiv are required to confirm their medicinal potential.
