Abstract

The textbook for the discipline “Microbiology, Virology and Immunology” corresponds to the curriculum approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and is recommended for applicants of higher medical education institutions of the IV level of accreditation in the specialties Dentistry and Medicine at the educational level Master. The textbook covers key sections of medical microbiology focusing on the oral microbiome and its role in the development of pathological processes. It describes the main types of microorganisms of the normal oral microbiome, pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and viruses, as well as modern methods of microbiological diagnostics of oral diseases. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms of local immunity of the oral cavity and its disorders under pathological conditions.
